Polaroid Announces Relaunch of One Step Camera and New Instant Film in 2010

Victory Is Ours: Polaroid Announces Relaunch of Camera, Film

I once asked you if you would jump on board if Polaroid were revived — an overwhelming amount of you said yes. Well hold on to your hats, photo geeks, cause it's on its way! At a press conference today in Hong Kong, Polaroid announced that they will be re-launching the One Step camera and allowing The Impossible Project (a group of former Polaroid employees who have been working to revive the medium and who also released the last of the instant film to Urban Outfitters earlier this year) to produce a limited amount of instant black and white and color film in 2010. No more tears on those Polaroid notepads my friends, you'll get the real thing soon enough.

In addition to the exciting launch, Polaroid is releasing a limited edition Celebration Kit ($450) on Friday, October 16 for the ultimate instant camera connoisseur. The kit includes an original SX-70 camera, two collectible film packs, and a few other commemorative items. So — are you as excited about this news as I am?

My dad told me he gave away his polaroid camera to a charity shop a couple of years ago. Yeah, still not forgiven him. I can afford the camera, I can't afford the film!

I hope we still have our camera and didn't get rid of it. Kaitxo, the fashion industry, and definitely others. We took polaroids to put in employee files, not having them was so annoying.

I had a feeling this would happen. The fashion industry and more would be lost without them.

I love Polaroids because there's nothing better then having a scrapbook of travel photos made up of all instant pics that you can't redo because they're digital and midst traveling making a scarpbook of them. GREATEST!

I'm digging the 80's retro redo. There is happiness all around leggings, amazing boots, shoulder pads and retro tech. Polaroids, turntables (okay USB turntables, but my records have finally been able to leave the garage). Can I get a jumbo iPod boom box and some cardboard? I need to hit the local street corner and do some back spins.

I'm so excited about this. Please release more film for the other cameras as well so I can stop having to purchase it from Austria. Not that I have a problem buying anything from Austria, but with the Euro conversion rate, and shipping it's a bit pricey. Too bad this kit is a little pricey as well. Otherwise I'd be jumping on it.
