Doctor Who (and Daleks) Meet the Royals

Jul 3 2013 - 1:10pm

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, lived a Whovian dream Wednesday, when they visited the Doctor Who studio [1] as part of their Wales Summer tour. When arriving at the studio, the royals happened upon a pair of Daleks but were able to avoid an intergalactic brawl to move on to a TARDIS tour with the Doctor, Matt Smith, and Jenna-Louise Coleman, who plays current companion Clara.

After showing Prince Charles how to work the controls of the TARDIS, Matt said the prince told him [2] that "He remembers watching the show when he was 15 and seemed very knowledgeable on the Who history."

Don't get too jealous of the VIP tour, though; even a future king doesn't get the insider scoop on the top-secret Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode, as Jenna explained: "The Prince was particularly interested in the mechanics of how the TARDIS works and the storyline for the upcoming 50th anniversary special, but I didn't give too many secrets away."
