Rumor: YouTube May Add Celebrity Created Content

YouTube May Start Adding Celebrity-Created Content

In an effort to improve the quality of its content, YouTube may start adding content created by celebs. A report says that the newly-instated YouTube CEO wants celebrities to control certain verticals on the site, contributing original three-minute "shows" specifically for the YouTube audience.

The reasoning: that this high-end content will keep both viewers and advertisers happy and encourage even more quality content on the site — turning it into a serious programming destination and not just a place to watch funny cat videos. There's a lot of money at stake too, with rumors saying that YouTube could offer chosen celebs up to $5 million to run and produce specific channels.

Since celebs are already producing their own content and posting it through various outlets, this seems like a natural fit and a very smart move for a very popular site.
