Samsung BD-P2550 Blu-ray Player is Awesome

Picking Up a Blu-Ray Player? Consider the Samsung BD-P2550

Although I already have my Blu-Ray player squared away, I'm kinda excited about this Samsung high-def model instead. What sets the Samsung BD-P2550 aside from others is its features. Not only does it have HDMI, 1080p, 7.1 analog audio outputs, along with Dolby TrueHD decoding capabilities (which translates to amazing video and audio quality), but you can also stream Netflix On Demand movies and Pandora Internet radio right from the player.

Yeah, you can stream Pandora from your Blu-Ray player. Crazy, right? So if you assumed there would be an extra-special price tag to go along with all this "flair," you would be absolutely right. The Samsung BD-P2550 clocks in at $349 from Best Buy (and goes as high as $489 from Amazon), but I'm totally adding this to my Price Protectr list just in case.

I would like to add that I was SUPER ANTI- Blu-Ray player in the beginning. I lived through the VHS vs. Beta and the LaserDisc years. I know how this stuff can go. While I really see the future as downloadable collections getting the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player has made me feel OK with it. The picture you get with a quality TV and a Blu-Ray player is unlike anything you are used to. If you have a crappy TV or don't care that much then go ahead and pass. If you love movies and gaming then PS3 is really the way to go.

Thanks for the find Geek! I REALLY like this...I've been wondering about blu-ray and whether to go for blu-ray or not, I just don't want to upgrade every two years or have to buy all new DVDs, you know? Plus I live at home, if I get my own apartment anytime soon I would sooo get this. Anyhow, I still think it's very cool. Thanks again GeekSugar :)

I went with the PS3 for both of our TV's. With a family of gamers it just made sense to have a nice multitasker ;-)

I'm waiting on bluray player's. All the ones that stream netflix are $400+. While a non-netflix one is only $200. I'm sure by next year they'll drop in price as well.

I'm skipping the blu-ray...don't need one. I still don't have a DVD player or VCR at my house. PS2 doubles as a DVD whatever.
