18 Netflix Shows With Cult Followings to Binge-Watch

Jan 29 2016 - 6:45pm

These days, it seems like there are too many options for what television show to start next. But, if your interests lean more toward superheroes, sci-fi, and wizards and witches, then we've got a list of classics and new shows to start watching. Personally, I like that mix of old and new — you need your Buffy along with your Daredevil. Grab the wine and a comfy quilt, and get ready to start your binge-watching. Still looking for options? Check out these great Netflix movie picks [1], too.

The X-Files

Any list about sci-fi television shows would be worthless without a mention of The X-Files [2]. Centering around two FBI agents, the show follows them as they investigate paranormal cases.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

If you love any type of superhero movie, it's time to get obsessed with Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. [3] Nothing like watching the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents battle enemies on the small screen.

Firefly

Another Joss Whedon creation, Firefly [4] is for those who love contrarian characters who won't give up what they believe in — while traveling in space.

Doctor Who

If you love the idea of time traveling and cult-television-show favorites, you should start watching Doctor Who [5].

Bill Nye, the Science Guy

Calling all '90s kids and anyone with a general love of science: Netflix quietly added 31 episodes [6] of Bill Nye, the Science Guy [7] at last. Learn something and binge-watch at the same time.

Arrow

For fans of DC comics, Arrow [8], the story of Oliver Queen, is perfect if you like watching a hero try to end corruption.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

If you identified as a misunderstood teenager or are an adult who likes a little bit of edge and sass, Buffy the Vampire Slayer [9] is your calling. The show has friendship, demons, and vampires — what else could you want?

Daredevil

A lawyer who battles crooks both in the court and on the streets — that's the story of Daredevil [10], the latest Netflix hit.

Sherlock

Prepare to fall for Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as they solve crimes in Sherlock [11]. There's wit, sass, and plenty of suspense.

Charmed

Something wicked this way comes, and it's Charmed [12] — the story of the Halliwell sisters, who find out they're witches and suddenly have to battle demons, warlocks, and everything in between.

Chuck

Interested in what happens if you accidentally download top-secret, sensitive government information into your brain? Then Chuck [13] is what you should watch.

Fringe

Similar to The X-Files, Fringe [14] follows an FBI team who tries to solve cases related to the supernatural.

Futurama

If you haven't watched at least one episode of Futurama [15], you need to give it a try. The show follows a group of odd friends as they live their daily lives 1,000 years in the future.

Heroes

In Heroes [16], people who discover they have secret powers must work together to save each other from a common enemy.

Angel

After all the drama he endured on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel [17] is the story of how the titular character tries to stay reformed and help others from demons.

Roswell

In Roswell [18], humans and aliens form relationships, and what happens next isn't always pleasant — especially if the FBI and local police are out to get you.

Twin Peaks

A girl's body washes up in a small town and an FBI agent is sent to solve the mystery, and that's where Twin Peaks [19] begins.

Supernatural

Fighting demons isn't easy, but in Supernatural [20], it's a bit easier with your brother by your side.
