Our worst wearable-tech nightmare just came true: a giant selfie hat [1] with a tablet hanging off the side for photo opps. Who could pull this off? No one, except for maybe Lady Gaga [2].
The glittery, pompous techie headwear is part of a collaboration between the designer Christian Cowan-Sanluis and Acer to promote its Iconia A1-840 tablet. You can't buy the selfie hat, but you will see it walk down the Christian Cowan-Sanluis runway during London Fashion Week. What you can buy is a similar tablet case with a hat on it that will be sold in limited quantities.
All this is just another sign of our generation's obsession with selfies (which we were already not OK with [3]). What's important to remember though is that the high-fashion world is capable of making beautiful gadgets, as evidenced by these Opening Ceremony [4] and Rebecca Minkoff [5] smart bracelets.
