Social Networking With Friends of Friends

Geek Community: Do You Keep Tabs of Your Friends' Friends?

This question was shared by OhBlerg in our Ask a Geek Girl group.

I'll social network into the next century, but I seldom keep up with who my friends are friends with. Every once in blue moon I'll see a friend connection that cracks me up (usually it's seeing her re-connect with an ex boyfriend or someone I know she just wants to spy on), but for the most part, I don't keep score of the friend web.

My best friend couldn't be more connected, and ready to buzz at any second about who is friends with who and "have you seen so-and-so's sister's new profile pic?" Are you able to keep up with the world just outside of your immediate friends, or do you only follow people you are really interested in?

I have a hard enough time following just my friends, and I try to keep them at a minimum because of that.
