To be honest, this assertion of power won't cause me to lose any sleep; it's not like I'd take advantage of porn if it was available. But, does Apple have this right to decide? Since all applications are sold through the iTunes store, it does have the right to control what goes into the store, and thus, on your phone. It's different than restricting certain websites (which Apple does not do), but if Jobs is allowed this kind of authority, could he potentially extend it to other Apple products?
We do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone.
Obviously, no one wants a porn-filled iPhone falling into the hands of a child, but do you think it's OK for this decision to come from on high? And what kind of precedent does this set? Will he be banning music with objectionable lyrics, too?
