Top 100 Selling Games in the Past 12 Months

Top 100 Games Sold in Past 12 Months = Shocking

Well, maybe not so shocking to some of you who need their Sims fix on the daily (hey, I'm not hating, just sayin'), but when I read over Next-Gen's list of the top 100 games sold in the past 12 months throughout the US and Europe, I was a little surprised. Why? Well, because if you were one of the fans of Heavenly Sword or even Burnout Paradise that made numbers 78 and 71 respectively, then you will be shaking your head to know that games like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End made the top 20 in sales for the past year. Not that I'm totally offended, just very sad for those gamers who did not get to experience the joy of crashing through gates and running amuck through Paradise City!

I like to think I have a very open mind when it comes to games, so I suppose games based on movies are just big sellers. . . despite the fact that they usually are sub par when it comes to story. Although, I'm not surprised to see Super Mario Galaxy and Assassin's Creed bringing in high rankings, since SMG was one of my fave games of the year, and Assassin's Creed was an innovative game to spend loads of free time on. But yet another surprise being BioShock — easily one of the best games of last year — down at number 29. Again, just sad for the folks who didn't drop some cash on a totally worthy game.

Where are America's and Europe's gaming priorities? The entire list is available now, but to check out the top ten and give me your opinions on the list, just

The numbers for top ten seem about right. I do agree with call of duty 4 with as many people I know who dropped halo for it.

I've got 5 out of 10 of those games, sadly. I'm surprised that Halo 3 wasn't #1, but SMG was EASILY my favorite of last year!

i miss pokemon. that was such a great game! i am so disappointed with the rest of the top 100, though.

BioShock was so much scary fun. We would turn the lights off and play in the dark ;-)

I'm a bit surprised that GH3 wasn't number one. I also though SMG would be higher since it's my favorite game. ;)

Weird that Fifa beat Madden. My bro said that the need for speed is pretty fun, I might pick it up, although Mario Kart is coming out soon.

Looks like Geek was so shocked, she wrote it backwards! ;) Looks like it's fixed now... I'm totally surprised about BioShock as well! I loved that game. It scared the crap out of me and totally made me want to keep playing at the same time.

That list is backwards.

The list is printed backwards. Call of Duty was number 1 not 10, Brain age was number 10 not 1.

I'm really surprised that Brain Age 2 is #1. I was rather disappointed with it - I don't think it's as good as the first one, and neither of them are as fun or easy to play as Big Brain Academy. Oh, and I NEED Super Mario Galaxy. NEED.

Bioshock really is a cool looking game. I'm not usually one for shooter-adventure games really, but I loved watching my boyfriend playing that one.

Huh. Interesting. I guess I'll need to check out Need for Speed: ProStreet. Burnout Paradise is getting kinda boring.
