Totally Geeky or Geek Chic? USB Rubber Duckie

Japan's Solid Alliance crew (the same folks that brought us the ever popular crystal USB necklace) created an i-Duck USB Memory Storage device that is sure to spark some small talk. The i-Duck uses a USB 1.1 interface and has a storage capacity of 256MB. When you plug it in your USB port, the i-Duck lights up. For me, this one falls in the "but why?" category, but it does get a little "awww" for being small, bright and friendly looking.

Umm, the point of USB was an eaasily portable fairly large storage option, their size made them especially appealing, hence names like 'thumb drive', small convenient things easy enough to carry around, am I supposed to put this im my pocket? It'd be a cool marketing thing though. I remember rumors of Bare Naked Ladies talking about releasing an album on a USB, some company could use this for circulation of promotional software. Somebody would take it at a convention or something, and they would have to plug it into their comp. even just to clear it out, chances are they'd see what was on it.

i have an answer for your 'but-why' - it's harder to lose? i think for junk in the purse monsters like myself, it could be a good idea! ALSO, no one else at work can steal it and claim it's theirs! haha

Cute, but I agree with you on the "but why?" factor. I'm perfectly happy with my plain old normal flash drives.

I think they're cute - but probably not the most practical thing in the world. Don't know about the rest of you, but I usually work on the 'puter in the light, and my USB ports are in the back, so I'm not sure I would be able to enjoy the light up part. Although - it would look really cute if someone asked to borrow your jump drive!

I'm liking it...a good gift for the techie that has everything in your life, but it would be cute if they released other light-up animals, like frogs, which I happen to be partial to...
