This Trend Is Taking Over Tumblr, and It's Awesome

May 18 2015 - 7:40am

These days, it's easy to get lost in the negativity on the Internet and feel alone. Tumblr is trying to change that by launching a new campaign geared toward positivity [1] online.

The blogging platform's "Post It Forward" initiative [2] is an effort to talk more about mental-health issues, with an emphasis on online communities and sharing. The site is encouraging anyone and everyone to share a message about how they got through a rough patch in their lives and let the online world know that they too will get through a bad day — or year. The advice and stories will live within both the hashtag and on the Tumblr site, PostItForward.tumblr.com [3].

So far, notable celebrities and influential figures have joined, like Vice President Joe Biden [4], Brittany Snow [5], and Elizabeth Banks. Their messages highlight the causes they believe in, such as antibullying and ending sexual assault. While the campaign is geared toward a platform for mental-health issues, there's no limit to what the online community wants to shed light on.

We collected some of the most touching ones so far. You can join by posting a video, a short text post, or even creating a GIF selfie with a new Tumblr tool and hashtagging your message with #PostItFoward. You never know who will benefit from your advice.
