The university has expelled two of the students for leading the chant, writing "You should not have the privilege of calling yourselves 'Sooners.' Real Sooners are not racist. Real Sooners are not bigots. Real Sooners believe in equal opportunity" in a Facebook statement [1]. One student has apologized, saying he is deeply sorry for the "horrible mistake [2]."

The University of Oklahoma has shut down its Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter after a video of fraternity members chanting a racist song went viral. You can see it above, but be warned that it contains incredibly offensive language.

The video was first leaked on the Unheard at University of Oklahoma Twitter account [3] yesterday. It shows frat members on what appears to be a party bus, saying "Racism is alive at the University of Oklahoma" and chanting words like "There will never be a n*gger in SAE" and "You can hang them from a tree, but they'll never sign with me."

Outrage at the video spread across the Internet, and the hashtag #SAEhatesme started trending on Twitter.
