Website of the Day: Rentometer

Don't you just love websites that can help you save time and money? Well geeksugar's website of the day is a site that does just that. Rentometer is a fabulous free service that allows you to enter your address to see if your rent is comparable to others in the neighborhood or if you are paying too much or getting a steal. It also shows other rental properties in the same area on a handy map and how they fair in terms of pricing. From the example below, Rentometer suggested that the rental unit should be in top condition and have more amenities than the average rental unit in the area, and if it doesn't then the rent is too high. Love it! Now you'll never have to second guess if you're paying too much rent again! To learn how to post your favorite sites to the Website of the Day group, just

I knew my place was a steal. I'm paying $89 less than the low average. $1095 for one bedroom, meridian is $1495. AND I get free cable and utilities, AND I can pirate internet from my neighbors. :yaar:

i'm happy to see that the site works in Canada too! the place i used to live was expensive but rent has gone up everywhere so its now considered a good deal.

I already knew I was getting a good deal. Even when they raised my rent to market rate ($71 more), it was still cheaper than some of the surrounding apartments. But I want to find a rental house because I'm sick of having neighbors on the other side of the wall and ceiling.

Thank God my rent is average b/c the apt is not worth a penny more.

Kinda a cool site, what it seems to do is make a mix of ads from and entries that other people made from your area. So if someone puts in that they are paying 1,000 for their place (when they are really paying 2,000) figures in that average. And if that happens enough times, the meter could give you false information.
