What's Next For Apple? The iPod Flea?

What's Next For Apple? The iPod Flea?

The iPhone is arguably the most heavily anticipated gadget to be released in years. For months we've wondered: Will it be released early? Will celebrities love it as much as they love their iPods? Will it grate my cheese, blow dry my hair and open bottles? Others - namely the most practical among us - wonder if the iPod-meets-organizer -meets- phone-meets-office will replace the iPod or if the iPod itself will live on as an autonomous gadget. If the iPhone doesn't replace the iPod in the near future, will Apple continue its Nicole Richie-like trend of getting smaller and smaller? The video below was made before the release of the smallest iPod Shuffle, but the joke still stands.

I read somewhere that the iPhone doesent have a removable battery - and it sucks - theire theory was the 'planned' obsolescene - after two year contract has expired, then same with your phone's battery life... then you just have to get a new one. :p

I agree with Yaelli - i hope apple would release a vaio-sized macbook. ive got tons fo stuffs to bring to class and my iBook doesnt really fit well in my supersized handbag! :) or sometimes it does fit - but that leaves me with sore shoulders :( I doubt if there is a noticeable difference with the weight of the now-MacBook. as with the iPod - i still prefer the regular size of the iPod Video. Smaller than that - then i might need a magnifying glass to watch videos on it :p

Here is what I think they need to add to their lineup: 1. a "tough" laptop to compete with Panasonics Toughbook 2. an electronic organizer to compete with the Blackberry 3. a very small and light laptop to compete with the Sony Vaio

I guess my problem with getting an iPhone is it doesn't have enough storage. I have a crapload of music -- over 8GB certainly. I think it's at the 19 mark right now actually. So I wouldn't use the iPhone for that -- but I like the idea of a multipurpose device. Like a little mini-computer. Plus -- you don't have to pay for the internet -- amazing

The ipod definitely needs camera features.

they care about cost as well as features, so since not everyone can afford a 500$+ phone (the iphone of course) with so many features, i can't see them giving up on the solely mp3 player devices. the thing i would love on my ipod would be a search and maybe a stylus like the DS or a touch screen. i wonder if they'd put a bigger screen on it and a smaller wheel, maybe?! a bigger screen might be good for videos, not that i have ever used mine for such.

Obviously size is somewhat a factor and I can't imagine they would go bigger than the iPod Video but new features for sure. This is a company that can take something that already exists and turn up the sexy factor 100%. They didn't invent the mp3 player. They changed it enough that it took over the market (85% of it the last time I looked). 6 months before the first iPod was released I bought a 256mb mp3 player for $249 that held like 40 songs or something silly like that. Then Apple comes out with "1000 songs in your pocket" for not much more than I spent for 40 songs in my pocket. At the time I believe there was another mp3 player that did a lot more GB's for around the same money but it was built around a fully size 3.5" hard drive. Try strapping that baby to your arm ;-) I think Apple has an amazing vision and design team. They don't just put something out on the market to fill a void in their product line, they do it right or they don't do it at all (well most of the time, we won't talk about the Cube ;-)

hahaha Apple can do whatever they want with the iPod, just as long as it goes wifi and a touch screen would be nice too. Or, I suppose I could just get an iPhone
