Word Lens For iPhone

Download of the Day: Word Lens For iPhone

Do you ever take a step back after looking at some piece of technology and think, "Wow, we live in the future?" That's how I feel about WordLens, an instant translation app for the iPhone. Just point your phone's camera at a word and Word Lens translates it — instantly.

The app is free to download but gets you with the translations. After downloading, you can view a free demo of the app's technology; just point it at any word and Word Lens will automatically reverse all of the letters. To use the translation tool (currently only English to Spanish, or vice versa), you'll have to pony up an additional $5. For those traveling abroad who are worried about sign or menu translations, the app is ideal. And, while there's no timeline for supporting additional languages, the functionality is sure to follow.

Check out the blow-your-mind demo video after the break.

Eh. Great technology, but word for word translators just don't cut it most of the time. Anything more complex than "no parking" and the grammar gets messed up.
