So, What the Heck Is Instagram's "Add Yours" Story Feature and How Do You Use It?

Instagram recently rolled out an "Add Yours" Instagram Story Sticker that has everyone talking (and sharing) Stories on the app — so what the heck is it? Think: the "Who are you in love with?" or "We'll plant one tree for every pet picture" trends that recently went viral on the app. The "Add Yours" feature is essentially another way for people to engage with IG Stories and allows users to either start or join a chain of responses to prompts that are often used by hundreds or even millions of 'Grammers. At its core, it's a cool way to build a sense of community on the app.

You could even think of Instagram's "Add Yours" feature like one big game of IG telephone: people see the sticker and reply to the chain with their own take on whatever the prompt is, even if it's not what you'd expect (i.e. if someone were to post a picture of their favorite meal for the "Who are you in love with?" sticker, instead of their significant other or celebrity crush.) You can start your own "Add Yours" sticker prompt, or you can join in on a pre-existing one you stumble across. But how do you do it?

How to Use the "Add Yours" Story Feature on Instagram

If you've come across the "Add Yours" sticker on someone else's story and want to join in on the trend, simply click the "Add Yours" button on the sticker. If you're feeling daring and ready to start your own sticker, gear up a photo or video to post to your Story as you normally would. Then, click on the IG Story stickers option at the top of your screen, and tap the "Add Yours" button. You can choose to create your own prompt or let Instagram create a prompt for you by tapping the dice at the bottom of your screen, right above the keyboard. It's really that easy!

How to See "Add Yours" Instagram Stories From Other Users

When you come across an existing "Add Yours" sticker, you can click on the sticker itself to view other IG Stories from public Instagram profiles that participated in that particular prompt. If you want to view responses to your own "Add Yours" prompt, you can navigate back to your Instagram story and click your sticker to see who's participated.

What to Do If You Can't Find the "Add Yours" Instagram Story Sticker

If you can't interact with "Add Yours" stickers, or you don't see the "Add Yours" sticker option for your own IG Stories, you might want to try quitting the app and restarting it, or check your device to see if there's a pending update for the Instagram app. If neither of those potential fixes work, it may be that the "Add Yours" feature hasn't rolled out in your region just yet. Regardless, you can always report the problem in Instagram's Help section, located in your settings.
