Have you ever tried to update your iPhone, but didn't have enough space to do it? If you're away from your computer and want to get the latest operating wirelessly, over the air, then iOS 8.1.3 is the answer to your iPhone prayers. Apple recently released the update, which reduces the amount of storage (247 MB vs. several GB) required.
You'll also get some other necessary fixes with iOS 8.1.3:
- The issue that prevented users from entering an Apple ID password for Messages and FaceTime is now fixed.
- Spotlight (swipe down in the middle of the home screen) will now display app results when you search for them.
- Multitasking gestures (three- and four-finger swipe) now work on the iPad.
How to Update
First, back up all your data [1] (you might lose it during the upgrade), then go to Settings > General > Software Update. A faster way to upgrade to iOS 8.1.3 is to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to your computer and update through iTunes.
If you insist on updating over the air and don't have enough free space, then this is what you should delete on your phone [2].
