iPhone Damage From Drop

Fear-Inducing Tech Moment: the Facedown iPhone Drop

It's October, which means it's time to get ready for Halloween. In the spirit of the season of ghosts and other traditionally fear-inducing creatures, I bring you a new series: Fear-Inducing Tech Moments. Today, one that makes my heart stop almost every time: dropping my iPhone on the ground.

As phones get lighter and sleeker, they also get easier to drop. While I usually have my phone protected in a thick, easy-to-grip case, I sometimes take it out to dock it, or just to look at its classy design. Inevitably at some point during the caseless period, the phone manages to slip out of my hand, fall off of my lap, or vibrate itself off the table, usually landing facedown on the hard floor. I don't know that there's a time I feel more nervous than the five-second window where I bend down to flip my phone over, fingers crossed that there isn't the beginning of a spider crack snaking across the screen.

Do you have a fear-inducing tech moment to share? Let me know in the comments below, and look out for more seriously freaky events all month long.
