The $90,000 Flappy Bird Phone Phenomenon Is a Troll Trap

Addiction to Flappy Bird is a real thing. Used iPhones with the now-defunct game going for thousands of dollars on eBay are in a gray zone of not real.

Yesterday, if you searched "iPhone With Flappy Bird" on eBay and these results would have appeared. A used iPhone 4S worth $90,200? Not a chance. If that value seems insane, it's because it is. eBay is now working to pull the phones off of the site.

The two links pictured here are legitimate listings, but many are not. eBay allows sellers to embed HTML into their listings, and many of these sellers are capitalizing on the publicity surrounding the exorbitant prices of phones with Flappy Bird installed to redirect the listing to another link.

From what we've found, many posts redirect to generic listings of iPhone 4Ss without Flappy Bird installed. Some of these outbound links may be harmful . . . so proceed with caution!

If you got a new phone or recently reset your device to factory settings and must have Flappy Bird in your life, try alternative games with maliciously difficult gameplay that'll make any Flappy Bird fan feel right at home.
