The iPod Becomes Teacher's Pet

The iPod Becomes Teacher's Pet

At least two companies are now selling software that allows students to view lecture slides on their media player screens. According to The New York Times, this technology offers students who miss an important point the first time an easy method to retrieve and review lecture material outside of the classroom. As you can see below, the iPod's screen is a perfect tool for viewing an art history podcast or a biology lecture, with the iPod Touch providing the ability to zoom in and out. This new and improved software also comes with word indexing capabilities, which allows students to search certain keywords without having to review the entire lecture. Let's hope the students stay focused on their math lesson instead of Justin Timberlake's music videos!Source

I teach online classes, and this would be a nice addition to make to class.

my senior year in high school, my teacher recorded all of our math classes and they were available free through itunes to us. he had the school put in mircrophones in the ceiling (we had just built a new school during my senior year, more like additions though). and so if you missed class or something, you could catch up, and it was a good way to study.it's a great thing to have.

I think most profs would be to lazy/not care enough/old fashioned to podcast. And honestly, half the students wouldn't show up if they would.

this is pretty awesome but i sense a lot of cheating on test with this. I wish my school join itunes for their itunes U. it would make life a little bit easier especially now during finals.

It could be like the new flashcards on the bus ride to school. The one thing I think it would help with the most would be learning that damn foreign language. Spanish class was the bane of my existence in high school.
