The Brahmananda Ashram
I first moved to San Francisco for a monthlong yoga teacher training intensive at the Brahmananda Ashram (2872 Folsom St., 415-285-5537). Living in the ashram was quite the experience, but you don't have to move in to enjoy its beauty! Incorporated in 1972 by Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, the ashram's doors are always open, and the Yoga Society of San Francisco has a ton of amazing events and classes offered regularly.
My pick? If you're so inclined, then try to attend a traditional Vedic Fire Ceremony in the Cosmic Templum or Marcelo's inspiring (and free!) Pranayama class. It's the most beautiful way to kick off your day. — LF
