Jean Paul Gaultier was having a flashback to the '80s on his Spring 2013 runway. With bold lipstick and tousled hair, models' looks were reminiscent of Madonna's style early on in her career.
Just amazing. How the model actually walked down the runway, however, is anybody's guess.
In a more recent show, Alexander McQueen channeled Queen Elizabeth's style with a brocaded cage headpiece.
Pin curls are something we've seen in fashion many times before, but this spray-painted version seen at Givenchy was a unique take on a classic hairstyle.
Electrical tape in the hair is something we wouldn't usually recommend, but according to Alexander Wang, it's a must-try fashion statement.
This was one of the brand's first big "concept" shows, with models tattooed and made up like pre-Roman Celtic warriors. The lipstick look became an instant hit in avant-garde circles.
Cotton-candy-colored wigs and dramatic anime makeup walked down the Anna Sui runway for a look that was part punk and part cartoon character.
Chanel started a trend when it sent these crystallized brows down the catwalk.
From bedazzled brows to gem-covered lips, the Dior Haute Couture presentation offered a Swarovski-studded lip that was a little more . . . formal than your everyday look.
If Alice in Wonderland was reconfigured for the runway, then it would look something like the face makeup from Vivienne Westwood's Spring 2013 presentation, which brought to mind the Queen of Hearts.
While the clothing from the Chanel Spring 2014 runway had a classic spin, the blunt black wigs and multicolor eye shadow were something from the future.
The Givenchy Spring 2014 runway wasn't the first time we've seen masks, but these bedazzled pieces were a work of art made with tiny Swarovski crystals, and the lips added just the right amount of fun.
For Marc Jacobs's final Louis Vuitton show, the models flocked down the runway in high-flying headpieces dyed a sleek black. Some of them were taller than the models themselves.
It's rare that models come down the runway disheveled, but the Vivienne Westwood Spring 2014 show required a paint splatter for all and floral hair accessories. In the end, the look came together to create a woodland nymph vibe.
Both dresses and hair were adorned with butterflies at the Jean Paul Gaultier couture show for Spring 2014. You could have easily mistaken this catwalk for a creative hair show.
