As I sort out my backstage schedule for Spring 2017 New York Fashion Week, I am also planning my week of beauty style. Not only will I be stocking my bag with snacks, water, and a variety of technological must haves, but I'm making plenty of room for my ride-or-die beauty favorites. Even if you can't get to the tents this season, you can still get glam with these under-$10 Fashion Week items I'll have on hand throughout the jam-packed week.
When you're in a hurry, it's so much easier to use a sheer tinted moisturizer that can be slapped on rather than a foundation that needs to be carefully applied. Not only does e.l.f.'s foundation stick ($3) provide sun protection and lightweight coverage, but it also adds moisture to my dehydrated complexion with aloe and cucumber. Bonus: it's so affordable, you can have one in every bag.
Metallic accessories always look chic, no matter the season. Sally Hansen's silvery-gold polish ($10) will make your nails glamorous backstage and in the front row. Plus, the long-wear formula means your manicure will survive the whole week, even if your energy levels don't.
Running from tent to tent can make a girl sweat. A spritz of facial mist, like this one from Boots No. 7 ($10), is a quick and easy way to chill out and hydrate skin. It also refreshes makeup that's starting to fade at the end of a long, show-filled day.
Radiant skin is the ultimate cool-girl accessory, but a glow is bound to fade after hours of running across town for backstage interviews. A dab of NYX's highlighter ($7) will help you fake luminous, well-rested skin.
Despite the beauty trends that change season to season, red lips are always fashionable. The velvet finish of Makeup Academy's liquid lipstick ($9) looks sophisticated with any outfit, and the formula has such intense staying power that you can put it on before your morning coffee and expect it to still be there for the postshow party.
It's easy to get worn out during Fashion Week, meaning there may be no time for a thorough shampoo session in the morning. I'm stashing this travel-size dry shampoo from Herbal Essences ($3) in my purse for touch-ups between shows. The minty citrus scent guarantees my hair smells clean too.
I like to load on mascara until my lashes are so heavy that I can barely open my eyes. Maybelline's mascara ($7) provides a fat, fluttery fringe without bulkiness or clumping, meaning I can get the dramatic lashes I crave without the weight.
Whether you have a lob or long locks, running around backstage will make you want to get your hair off your sticky neck. That's why I pack Goody Spin Pins ($7) in every purse. While you can make more-complex styles (french twists, chignons, etc.) with these handy hair accessories, I just twist my locks into a high bun and screw a pin in — it looks good every time.
Bleached brows might be hot on the runway, but I'm sticking with bold, Cara Delevingne-inspired arches. Keep yours strong (and smudge free!) through the whole week with Sonia Kashuk's long-wear brow pencil ($8).
After a long day backstage, it's easy to just roll into bed without even putting on our pajamas — let alone taking off makeup. Clean & Clear's cleansing cloths ($7) have a relaxing scent to help you wind down as you wipe away the day's makeup.
