Everyone in the Audience Freaked Out at Patricia Arquette's Acceptance Speech

During her best supporting actress acceptance speech at the Oscars, Patricia Arquette really revved things up by speaking out in support of gender equality and women's rights. The moment itself was powerful and inspiring, of course, but what made it even more special was how wildly the audience responded. Meryl Streep cheered, Jennifer Lopez was glowing with admiration, and Patricia's costar Ethan Hawke even contributed a few whoops and hollers. In the press room after she left the stage, Patricia revealed that she heard about Meryl's reaction and "hugged her afterwards."
