Busy Philipps Opens Up to Ellen About the Sexual Trauma She Faced as a 14-Year-Old Girl

Busy Philipps stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday to discuss her new memoir, This Will Only Hurt a Little, which is out on Oct. 16. The actress, who also has an upcoming late-night talk show on E!, talked to Ellen about a particularly candid chapter in the book in which she opens up about being raped at 14 years old.

"Last week with the Kavanaugh hearings, I saw Dr. Ford take the stand," Busy said. "I was so moved by her bravery. It wasn't something that I felt like I was ever going to blast out on social media, but when I saw her standing there speaking her truth, I was like, 'I can do this. We can all do this.'"

Ellen revealed that she, too, experienced sexual assault at the age of 15. Busy added, "It's a real moment of reckoning for women that we have collectively carried this burden for so long, and it's time to share it." Watch the emotional interview above, and read This Will Only Hurt a Little for more heartfelt, funny, and honest moments from Busy.
