This Anti-Redskins Ad Will Air During the NBA Finals

First released back in January, this anti-Redskins video addresses the Washington Redskins' controversial mascot, and it's set to air on TV Tuesday night. The National Congress of American Indians originally posted the video online to coincide with the Super Bowl, but this week, the commercial will air on TV during the NBA Finals. Both the NFL and the Washington football team have faced criticism over their mascot, and this week, tribe leaders spoke out in a video about their Change the Mascot movement. "We want to draw attention to the pain," one said, adding, "In my opinion, the R-word is as derogatory a slur as the N-word." Called "Proud to Be," the ad will run in cities like Chicago, Dallas, LA, New York, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Washington.
