You know when you do something really cool, but no one is around to see it? That's kind of like what happened to Richie Shaffer after hitting his first home run in the big leagues this week. The Tampa Bay Rays rookie hit his first career home run and returned to the dugout to celebrate with his teammates. Instead, he ends up awkwardly congratulating himself. Shaffer returned to the dugout after hitting his very first home run.
He is immediately and painfully ignored by his teammates.
Not to be discouraged, he high-fived a million angels.
"No, YOU'RE the man."
He continued to have the best day ever.
"Bring it in for a hug, dude."
Eventually, he cuddled up to his team.
"You guys pranked me good! I almost believed you . . . almost."
He may have cried later . . . there's really no way to know.
