Solange Knowles Reveals Split From Husband Alan Ferguson After "Spiritual Transition"

Solange Knowles and music director Alan Ferguson have separated. On Nov. 1, the "Almeda" singer revealed the news in a heartfelt Instagram post about moving on and stepping into a new phase of life. "The past 2 years have brought me more physical and spiritual transition and evolution than ever before," she wrote. "11 years ago I met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life. Early this year we separated and parted ways. I find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do."

She went on to assure fans that she's set on a new path with hope and optimism. "Im [sic] leaning into the fear of the unknown and all the glory and power I know exist within god and the universes grace," she added. "May all of your transitions no matter how big or small, be kind to you and filled with incredible love and light!"

In 2014, Solange and Alan — who initially met through Janelle Monáe — married at Holy Trinity Church in New Orleans. Before their union, Solange was married to high school sweetheart Daniel Smith from 2004 to 2007, and they share a 15-year-old son named Daniel Julez J. Smith Jr.
