Cynthia Erivo Is Ready to "Make Hits" as Aretha Franklin in the Genius: Aretha Teaser

Cynthia Erivo is ready to wear the crown of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin! On Feb. 7, National Geographic revealed the first-look teaser for Genius: Aretha, a limited series (not to be confused with Respect, the upcoming Franklin biopic starring Jennifer Hudson). In this small-screen rendering of Franklin's life, Erivo will portray the late legendary singer as she rises to stardom and navigates her newfound success. It will also explore the lasting impact Franklin made on music and culture. "I want to make hits," Erivo's Franklin declares in the 30-second clip. Watch the teaser above and prepare to show some respect when Genius: Aretha premieres on May 25!
