Patti Smith's Just Kids Is Coming to TV With the Help of Showtime Vet

Patti Smith's bestselling 2010 memoir Just Kids is coming to the small screen. At the Summer TCA, Showtime president David Nevins announced the limited series, which will delve into Smith's book about her relationship and life with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. The series will be written and produced by Smith herself, along with a Showtime vet: John Logan, the mind behind the network's Penny Dreadful. "Showtime fought hard" for the rights to Smith's book, Nevins said, and he joked that maybe Smith's leanings had something to do with it. It "didn't hurt that Patti is a diehard Penny Dreadful fan." Stay tuned for more details.
