5 X-Men Relationships You Need to Remember Before Seeing Apocalypse

Everett Collection

Before you head out to see X-Men: Apocalypse, consider brushing up on some very important information: the relationships. The X-Men universe is complex, and there are a handful of love connections that you should know about before you check out the next chapter in the series. After all, you don't want to be lost when Professor X is pining after Moira and she has no idea who he is, right? Take a look, and find out how we reacted to the latest movie!

01

Moira and Professor X

CIA agent Moira MacTaggert is Professor Xavier's love interest in X-Men: First Class, but he wipes her memory at the end of the film so she won't know anything when she's being interrogated.

02

Cyclops and Jean Grey

Cyclops and Jean are a huge couple in the X-Men universe, and they're even engaged in X-Men: The Last Stand. You can see inklings of their relationship beginning in X-Men: Apocalypse.

03

Jean Grey and Wolverine

Meanwhile, Wolverine loves Jean Grey, but she's with Cyclops. Wolverine does have a brief cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse, but it's really creepy to think that the two will get together, since they're played by 20-year-old Sophie Turner and 47-year-old Hugh Jackman.

04

Mystique and Magneto

Mystique and Magneto's relationship is best summed up by "it's complicated." She tries to seduce him in X-Men: First Class, and he tells her that he likes her in her regular, blue, scaly form. They're not on the best of terms in Days of Future Past, and you can see how their relationship progresses (or doesn't) in Apocalypse.

05

Mystique and Beast

Mystique also has a flirtation with Beast. They even have a steamy makeout session in a deleted scene from X-Men: Days of Future Past. At the end of the day, it definitely seems like Beast likes Mystique more than she likes him. Get ready for some awkward scenes.
