Though we're still in the dark trenches of Winter around here, we know sunny days are ahead. What better way to celebrate warmer weather than with a pool party? One of our favorite party planners, Kim Stoegbauer of TomKat Studio, did just that to fete the latest Barbie movie.
Barbie: The Pearl Princess ($27) — the story of a mermaid who dreams of being a princess (sound familiar?) — takes place entirely underwater, so to celebrate the flick, Kim planned a pool party using a pink, purple, and aqua color palette. There were Barbie, mermaid, and sea-princess activities to keep the guests busy before a viewing of the film. There was also plenty of delicious party fare like sugar cookies, cupcakes, popcorn, and more. Kim added her signature touch in the form of custom printables (available as free downloads) to coordinate with the theme. Read on for all the sweet details — the clamshell cookies are magnificent — and an exclusive clip from the movie! Whether planning a poolside party like Kim did or an indoor one, a prepared boxed lunch ensures there's no fussing around at mealtime. Kim added ribbon and customized name tags to each box to avoid any confusion. Photo by Ten22 Studio via http://www.thetomkatstudio.com/barbiepearlprincessparty/">The TomKat Studio
A refreshing fruit punch provided the partygoers with something sweet to drink throughout the afternoon. Photo by Ten22 Studio via http://www.thetomkatstudio.com/barbiepearlprincessparty/">The TomKat Studio
It wouldn't be a party without sweets, right? Add a printable Barbie cupcake topper, and a simple cupcake gets a glam makeover. Photo by Ten22 Studio via http://www.thetomkatstudio.com/barbiepearlprincessparty/">The TomKat Studio

Among the activities to keep the guests busy was a bracelet-making station with bowls of string and various-colored "pearls" that the tots could string together. Photo by Ten22 Studio via http://www.thetomkatstudio.com/barbiepearlprincessparty/">The TomKat Studio
What little Barbie-lover doesn't enjoy playing dress-up? To keep with the party's theme, Kim had the little girls take turns trying on Lumina's Pearl Princess Dress ($20), so they could practice being the star of the show. Kim premade pearl strands to add to each guest's hair during the party. The strands were made by stringing beads onto wire and then attaching them to a hair clip. Photo by Ten22 Studio via http://www.thetomkatstudio.com/barbiepearlprincessparty/">The TomKat Studio
Barbie always has fun hair accessories, so of course little Barbie partygoers need their own too. The Barbie Tapeffiti Headband Kit ($17) is filled with washi tape and everything kids need to create seven headbands.
