What the Power of Friendship Means to a 7-Year-Old

When 7-year-old Dylan Siegel's best friend, Jonah, was diagnosed with a rare liver disease — Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD) type 1b — he wanted to do everything in his power to help. His immediate course of action? Penning The Chocolate Bar Book to raise funds for research and treatment.

If you're wondering what a chocolate bar has to do with liver disease, the story is incredibly sweet. Dylan describes his friendship with Jonah as "awesome as a chocolate bar," hence the book's title. Since beginning his efforts last November at the age of 6, Dylan has raised an impressive $600,000, all of which is going directly to Dr. David Weinstein's Florida lab, where a cure for GSD type 1b is within reach.

"It's now reality. It's not just a dream that these children can be cured," Weinstein told ABC News. To get the rest of the story and learn how to support Dylan's cause, head over to People.com. Source: The Chocolate Bar Book
