The Emoji Moms Really Need

Sometimes pictures speak louder than words, which may be the reason that emoji are such a hot trend with the text- and social-media-savvy set these days. "I'm a creative director at heart and therefore very visual," says Gina Pell, founder of LOLy, an iPhone app that allows you to download hip, funny emoji. "I have always preferred sending ridiculous images or emoji over words, and I was surprised that nobody had created a more stylish, modern, witty emoji for women."

So Pell took matters into her own hands.

As a mother of two and a successful tech entrepreneur, she says, "I was always on the lookout for something cool and decided, after years of waiting, that it was time for me to simply make them myself. I made LOLy with a small, all-woman team of freelancers and surveyed hundreds of girls, women, and hip guy friends to come up with emoji they've been craving."
