Each parent has a different approach to Elf on the Shelf. Some create Pinterest-worthy scenes, while others take a simpler approach. And then there's Gina Lee, who brings the beloved tradition to life — literally. Lee, who you may remember from her Halloween endeavor earlier this year, has taken Elf on the Shelf to the next level by dressing her daughter, Willow, as the playful pixie and placing her in humorous situations.
"I love the Elf on the Shelf but wanted to try something different," Gina says. "A live Elf on the Shelf seemed more fun." Donning Willow in the red jumpsuit and hat, Gina wandered around their town and created mischievous scenarios for the 3-year-old to act out. And while some parents would have to bribe their child to smile for a photo, let alone dress like an elf, Gina says her daughter gets great joy from their photo sessions.
"It's just playtime for her and I," Gina says.
