Bright Lights, Big City Gear at Elie Tahari

IMAXTREE

The blue light cast over Elie Tahari's Fall 2014 collection had nothing to do with sadness. The somber tone typically associated with the hue had absolutely no place among the 40th anniversary festivities at the designer's NYC show.

The tone, rather, was a celebration of what has been and expectation of things to come. And why not celebrate? The label has much to fete with so many successes behind it (not to mention a Super Bowl-winning team clad in its gear — yes, Seahawks were there!).

And, fittingly, there was the retrospective vibe that comes with nearly half a century's success. The classic Tahari shapes, fabrics, and silhouettes were all in place. The sleek styles matched blue, gray, and navy for an effect that was downtown cool for the weekends and office appropriate for day. Then a shift came down the row, and pops of candy apple red (a fitting nod to the city this label was built upon) were a sign of things to come: fresh, bold, and totally Tahari.
