I'm really excited to buy pants for Fall 2019, and that's generally not my go-to shopping category when the season changes. Normally, you can sign me up for brand new boots or a jacket that's going to score me compliments, but I'll just style those things with my old jeans, please and thank you. I'm changing my perspective because designers have bestowed upon us an entire lineup of slacks in fresh cuts, colors, and materials that I simply can't ignore. I can't remember the last time I wore corduroys, but now I'm suddenly dreaming about a mustard yellow pair. And there's no way I won't feel as though I'm in PJs when I'm working the satin trend.
If you're already guessing that these pant types are bold and made for street style stars, you're not entirely wrong. The good news is, we've provided instructions for pulling everything off and plenty of options that will flatter your figure at different price points and a whole slew of lengths. Yep, you can kick it in front-slit ultra-flares that pool to the floor and reveal just the tip of your shoe, or the cropped version, which is like a sophisticated capri with movement. Check out all the pant trends when you read ahead, or jump forward to the section you can't wait to explore.
While women are investing in leather and faux-leather pants in olive green, chestnut, and butter tones, to take on the trend in its most basic form, slick, black, structured styles are where it's at.
The '80s-inspired high-waist silhouette can be as loud as you want it to be. It makes a statement even in black or white, but there are some vibrant colors to choose from once you start browsing through your favorite brands. To keep the focal point on your pants, style with a simple, lightweight top, tucked in to draw attention to your midsection.
Sally LaPointe High-Waist Flat-Fly Straight-Leg Silk Pants ($322, originally $1,290)
The ankle cinch pant is everywhere, and perhaps the trendiest trouser of the season. Be it a sash, buckle, or wiry tie that tapers the hem, this style allows you to embrace a full shoe moment, but hopefully your footwear won't distract entirely from the cool cut.
Off-White - Leather tapered pants ($1,560)
Reformation Avalon Pant ($178)
We love all the wonderful shades corduroy is offered in this season. The material comes in everything from a pleated, wide-leg trouser and '70s crop flare to a skinny pant, and you can really make a statement in a bright color, like sunshine yellow.
Ganni Ridgewood wide-leg corduroy trousers ($77, originally $193)
While the snake print pant may have scored a spot in your closet seasons ago, cow print, zebra stripes, and croc-effect material make these more wild than ever before. Be bold and add color to your look, or coordinate with a simple jacket, and let the pattern on your pants get all the attention.
Miaou Lou Pants in Cow Print ($295)
We're all about the flash of a satin pant on the streets this season. What's more, you've got options when it comes to silhouette. You can opt for a high-waisted trouser, a low-slung palazzo, or even cargos — satin finishes any pant shape you're into.
Another trendy option is the front-slit trouser, which allows for a shoe moment and also adds dimension to your look. These can pool to the floor or come to a crop, keeping things totally retro.
