Marc Jacobs's Fall '16 Was Made For the Drama Queen in You

Subtlety isn't Marc Jacobs's thing. The designer's runway delivers the kind of theatrics that season after season truly make it a show — and one of the most coveted seats at Fashion Week. For Fall '16, Marc did what he does best, starting by enlisting models he knew the world would be buzzing about: namely Kendall Jenner and Lady Gaga, though you'd be forgiven if you didn't recognize the two, looking gothic and doll-like for Marc's dark Victorian-punk mashup.

The rest was just as dramatic. The set itself vast and blank, putting the focus entirely on the clothes: voluminous coats, deliberately oversize pussy bows on blouses, and clunky platform boots. A master's class in proportional play, made more deliberate with the giant shadows models cast on the white walls as they walked.
