If you happened to be in attendance at the White House State Dinner with Japan's prime minister last night, we imagine it would have been hard to focus on the guests of honor. That's because the first lady turned out a completely stunning plum-hued Tadashi Shoji gown that stole the spotlight from just about anyone who crossed her path. Thanks to the saturated berry-toned dress and feminine detailing, like floral lace embroidery and an A-line tulle skirt, Michelle Obama was easily the best dressed at the White House. But isn't she always? Scroll to see her latest look from all angles.

Michelle stole the spotlight in her jewel-toned gown.

We're guessing the president is complimenting his wife on her beautiful dress.

The gorgeous floral-lace detail adds just enough interest around the neckline.

The first lady was both sophisticated and feminine in her tulle Tadashi Shoji creation.

The gown looked even better when it moved, as the first lady made her way down the stairs.

From the side, we got a glimpse of the tulle train behind her.
