It's a small percentage of Fashion Week presentations that attract industry vets, top models, celebs, and other designers. But that was the crowd that came to see Rihanna debut her Fall '16 FENTY collaboration with Puma on Friday night in downtown Manhattan. I walked in to find Anna Wintour sitting comfortably front row, while Jeremy Scott sat a section over. Naomi Campbell made a fashionably late entrance only moments before the lights went up on the moody, mirrored catwalk.
As for the clothes themselves, Rihanna presented a '90s-Goth take on athleisure, complete with chokers, breakaway pants, and heeled high-tops. To finish, Gigi Hadid led the finale, Rihanna took a bow in a fur coat (and no pants), and then cater waiters served champagne to everyone. Read on to take in the night, one standout moment at a time.
She channeled the same '90s vibe from her collection.
She bundled up on top, no pants on bottom.
She was fashionably late — as soon as she sat, the lights went down and the runway opened.
The collection walked the line between sportswear and punk-goth.
. . . and sheer tops that felt Rihanna-inspired.
With an army of models behind her.
