A Grown-Up Offering From Wes Gordon

Wes Gordon is growing up. The 27-year-old designer presented a Fall 2014 collection that was decidedly more mature than his past efforts but no less filled with strong, solid pieces his growing customer base is going to love.

Much of the collection was devoted to daywear. More than one cozy sweater came down the runway paired with a sheer skirt, and the outerwear managed to blend functionality and style (thank you, oversize fur collars).

Some highlights of the collection, though, were pieces conceived more for the party circuit than for the office. A pale blue gown with sheer sleeves and a mermaid skirt looked almost as though it was made specifically for the Academy Awards red carpet, and a calf-length dress with a plunging neckline was a modern take on the LBD.
