Part of being in love is having secret words or pet names that show your affection. It's something we all tend to do with people we're close to, including friends and family members. What's lovely is most of the words of endearment have a story behind them, which makes the meaning even more special. We polled our friends at work for ways they say "I love you" to their favorite people and just had to share the cute comments.
"My parents and I used to say 'love you big much' when I was little, and we still do today."
"I say 'Ich liebe dich' to my boyfriend. I started saying that when I studied abroad in Berlin, and it just stuck."
"'Infinity times Infinity'! With my parents, it's always written as infinity x infinity."
"I whistle a lot absentmindedly, and my boyfriend calls me 'mon petit oiseau,' which translates from French as 'my little bird'."
"I say 'I love you' by using various food nicknames that don't make sense, like 'pudding pop' and 'strawberry pop tart'! Just goes to show how important food is in my relationship."
"I share my pad thai. Is there really anything else to say?"
"'Volim Te!' That's Croatian for I love you."
