Did Donald Trump Copy Barack Obama's Inauguration Cake?

When Vice President Mike Pence cut into a patriotic nine-tier cake with a sword amid Jan. 20's inaugural events, one celebrity pastry chef was left scratching his head. The cake looked almost identical to the cake Duff Goldman made for Barack Obama in January 2013, and the chef took to Twitter to express his concerns that his cake was plagiarized by posting side-by-side photos of the cakes.

"The cake on the left is the one I made for President Obama's inauguration 4 years ago," he wrote. "The one on the right is Trumps. I didn't make it."

Between the silver stars, sparks, placement of the presidential seal, and the silver seals, the two cakes appear to be almost exactly the same.

Many people have fired back at Goldman's plagiarism accusations, claiming that the White House event planners could be to blame for this because of their direction on inaugural cakes, but the owner of the Buttercream Bakeshop in Washington DC is claiming otherwise.

"Excited to share the cake we got to make for one of last night's inaugural balls. While we most love creating original designs, when we are asked to replicate someone else's work we are thrilled when it is a masterpiece like this one. @duff_goldman originally created this for Obama's inauguration 4 years ago and this years committee commissioned us to re-create it," the bakery captioned the photo below, explaining that they were instructed to "replicate" Goldman's cake.

Because basic human rights are something every man, woman and child~ straight, gay or the rainbow in between~ deserve!

The Food Network star has recently followed up to clarify that he was not angry about the cakes, writing, "Remembering a fantastic cake I made is awesome and the chef that re-created it for @POTUS Trump did a fantastic job. Group hug, y'all. 🇺🇸"
