Famed Star Trek actor George Takei had a powerful response to Donald Trump's tweet on Tuesday about wanting to punish people who burn the American flag. "I pledged allegiance to the flag every morning inside an internment camp," Takei wrote on Twitter. "I would never burn one, but I'd die to protect the right to do so."

Takei was 5 years old in 1942 when he and his family were forced into a Japanese internment camp in Arkansas during World War II. He captured many concerns that Trump is threatening freedom of speech when he should be doing everything he can to protect it.

Takei's message has since gone viral with more than 27,000 retweets and 54,000 "likes." This isn't the first time Takei's tweet about Trump has resonated with people. On election night, when the country was coming to terms with the news that Trump was president-elect, Takei tweeted that his family got through their "unthinkable" internment by keeping their dignity and holding on to their ideals.
