PinkPantheress's First Viral Video Wasn't a Music One
After being named BBC R1's sound of 2022, PinkPantheress spoke to one of the station DJs about her journey on TikTok. She revealed that, despite what many of us may believe, her first viral video on the app wasn't actually music related at all. In fact, the video showed Post Malone [4] signing autographs with a voice-over from PinkPantheress saying, "Oh my god, I just farted, I'm so sorry." A self-proclaimed fan of pop punk, PinkPantheress has shared that her influences include Green Day, Paramore, and her favorite band of all time: My Chemical Romance. PinkPantheress Got Her TikTok Username Thanks to The Chase
In a recent video [6] with Dazed, PinkPantheress explained that she landed on her TikTok username (which has now become her music alias) thanks to an episode of The Chase. The singer said there was a question on the show asking what a female panther was called, which she loved, and combined with the film Pink Panther, her name was born.
