We All Owe Netflix Big Time, Because It's Bringing Amy Poehler Back to TV

Dec 28 2017 - 11:30am

Just in case Netflix wasn't in your good graces already (aka you're one of the few who still hasn't seen A Christmas Prince [1]) the latest news from the streaming giant should get you excited. The home of women-centric series like Orange Is the New Black [2], Lady Dynamite, and Grace and Frankie has blessed us with another TV series from the beautiful mind of Amy Poehler [3]. From the few details we already have about it, the untitled comedy sounds pretty damn good.

The eight-episode first season was ordered straight-to-series and will feature your Parks and Recreation [4] fave behind the camera this time around, similar to Poehler's real-life BFF Tina Fey [5], who created Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Poehler cocreated the show with Leslye Headland and OITNB's Natasha Lyonne, the latter of whom is also set to star. According to Entertainment Weekly [6], Lyonne will play Nadia, a young woman "on her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City." Who hasn't been there?

"So excited to get cracking with the intensely brilliant Leslye Headland, the GOAT with a heart of gold Amy Poehler, and Netflix, the safe haven I've been searching for since the '80s," Lyonne said in a statement. "Deeply moved to work with such heavy hitters and to share our show with the world."

Now, without further ado, please appreciate this GIF that accurately sums up how I feel about this news:
