Tap Your Foot to the Oldies and the Goodies, Dolly Parton Is Getting a Netflix Series

A Dolly Parton series is coming to Netflix, and fans are already planning to call in sick from their 9-to-5s and host a viewing party! (Picture it: blond wigs, bedazzled jackets, and themed snacks like "Jolene's Jambalaya," "I Will Always Love Bleu Cheese Bites," or a "Salmon en Croute of Many Colors." I'm just throwing things out there.)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Parton's as-yet-untitled Netflix series will follow her previous TV movie hits, Coat of Many Colors and Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, in the same vein. So far, Netflix has ordered eight episodes of the scripted anthology series, each of which will focus on a different hit Parton song.

Parton's 9 to 5 costars Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda accidentally broke the news about her series while speaking on a Netflix panel . . . and revealed some exciting tidbits. "It's a show — Sam Haskell, her partner, they're going to do a series about Dolly's songs, like she did with Coat of Many Colors and all that stuff," Tomlin told the crowd, adding that Parton will appear in the series "when it calls for her."

Warner Bros. TV, which produced Parton's two TV movies, will also produce the series. "As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music. I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix," Parton said of the series. "We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support."

So, who's excited? Netflix has yet to release premiere details, but you can bet Parton's scores of devoted fans will tune in to binge-watch when the time comes!
