ITV and Carnival Films have renewed Downton Abbey [1] for a sixth season! The fifth season hasn't even aired in the US yet — it will premiere on Jan. 4 — but it's still a hit here and overseas, where the finale is airing this Sunday. There's also a Christmas special on the way, in addition to a holiday album [2]. "We have had an amazing reaction to the storylines, acting and production values of Downton Abbey this year, and the whole team is thrilled to be moving ahead with a new season of the show," said Gareth Neame [3], Carnival's managing director. "This will provide audiences with a fresh opportunity to see what will befall our much loved characters."
