Downton Abbey Has Been Renewed For a Sixth Season!

ITV and Carnival Films have renewed Downton Abbey for a sixth season! The fifth season hasn't even aired in the US yet — it will premiere on Jan. 4 — but it's still a hit here and overseas, where the finale is airing this Sunday. There's also a Christmas special on the way, in addition to a holiday album. "We have had an amazing reaction to the storylines, acting and production values of Downton Abbey this year, and the whole team is thrilled to be moving ahead with a new season of the show," said Gareth Neame, Carnival's managing director. "This will provide audiences with a fresh opportunity to see what will befall our much loved characters."
