With the race for the crown [1] tightening on Game of Thrones [2], we've grown pretty accustomed to seeing the same faces and the same characters. Heading into the show's seventh (penultimate) season [3], though, has yielded a few interesting developments. Season seven starts on Sunday, and we're already spinning a handful of new theories [4] that could predict what might happen. On top of all that, though, we've also received word of a couple new cast members. Could we be meeting new, crucial characters in the episodes to come? Only time will tell. Let's go over the newest additions. Note: Conor McGregor was included in an earlier version of this article, but he has since admitted that his involvement was only a rumor.
Jim Broadbent
Jim Broadbent joined the cast [6] in 2016, and in March 2017, he revealed that he'd be playing a Maester [7] whom Sam meets in Oldtown.
Tom Hopper
Black Sails star Tom Hopper joined the cast [8] as a character we've already met before; he's playing the recast Dickon Tarly. Freddie Stroma previously played the part, but he had to drop out because of his new series, Time After Time [9].
